Lecturer in Applied English Studies

About the role

The University of Hong Kong invites applications for a Lecturer position in the Centre for Applied English Studies, starting 1 January 2027 on a two‑year fixed‑term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching to post‑secondary students, demonstrated by positive student feedback.
• Teach a variety of courses covering academic literacy, communication and English for Academic Purposes.
• Develop, evaluate and revise innovative teaching and learning materials.
• Pursue self‑identified professional development goals.
• Contribute actively to teaching development projects within the centre.

Required profile

• Recognised Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years full‑time experience teaching EAP or EFL at the post‑secondary level.
• Competence in academic literacy and communication teaching at undergraduate level.
• Experience embedding digital competence and multimodal communication in teaching practice and material design.
• Ability to support student learning beyond the classroom through blended‑learning and digital resources.
• Willingness to integrate AI tools critically into language and communication teaching.
