Associate Legal Counsel – Global Legal & Regulatory Affairs

About the role

Global Legal & Regulatory Affairs team operates as an agile, strategic partner to empower China Mobile (Fortune 100) to go global. We are seeking an ambitious, tech‑forward Associate Legal Counsel to join our team at Hong Kong Headquarter. In this role, you will take ownership of high‑impact commercial transactions, steer cross‑border regulatory navigation, advise on cutting‑edge AI and cloud infrastructure initiatives, and deploy AI‑empowered legal workflows and frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and close cross‑border commercial agreements covering cloud computing, data centre, AI services, software licensing and telecom solutions.
• Manage the full contract lifecycle from drafting and risk assessment through execution, compliance monitoring, renewal and amendment.
• Partner with regional legal counsel to navigate market entry, foreign direct investment clearances and operating licences across jurisdictions.
• Provide counsel on international trade controls, export controls, sanctions and data privacy regulations such as GDPR, PDPO and PIPL.
• Lead the adoption of generative AI tools to automate legal research, contract review and workflow processes.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Hong Kong, another common‑law jurisdiction (e.g., UK, Singapore, Australia) or the United States; Chinese qualified lawyers also considered.
• 2–7 years post‑qualification experience in a reputable law firm or multinational corporation (10+ years considered for senior counsel).
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Mandarin (Cantonese optional).

Required skills

• Cloud infrastructure knowledge (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and related service agreements.
• AI services and computing model expertise for technology contracts.
• Data privacy and cross‑border data transfer compliance (GDPR, PDPO, PIPL).
