Data Center Engineering Operations Facility Manager

About the role

The Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team at AWS is looking for a Facility Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operation of critical infrastructure across AWS data centers. You will ensure safety, security, availability and performance of mechanical, electrical, fire protection and control systems while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, fire protection and control systems.
• Lead and develop 24x7 Engineering Operations Technicians and the Chief Engineer, covering people management, performance and career growth.
• Plan and coordinate both scheduled and reactive maintenance activities to minimize disruption.
• Create and review operational documentation such as MOPs, SOPs and EOPs.
• Drive expansion and improvement projects from concept to completion, coordinating internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Manage third‑party vendor relationships, enforce SLAs and conduct performance reviews.
• Control CapEx and OpEx budgets to meet operational needs.
• Serve as primary point of contact for the data center, manage Large Scale Events and conduct regular readiness drills.
• Lead incident investigations, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading engineering operations teams in a data‑center environment.
• Strong background in mechanical, electrical and fire‑protection systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance programs, vendor contracts and budgets.
• Experience handling large‑scale events, outages and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
