About the role

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen is seeking an inspirational and visionary Dean to lead its newly opened School of Music. The Dean will head an international team of educators and administrators, shaping the school into a world‑class institute while strengthening its impact in the Greater Bay Area.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the School of Music, guiding its development as a top international music institute.
• Oversee academic programmes in performance, musicology, composition and theory at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Manage faculty recruitment, development and performance, fostering a collaborative and high‑quality teaching environment.
• Drive partnerships and outreach to enhance the school’s reputation in China and globally.
• Lead the integration of the new campus facilities, including the Performing Arts Centre, into the school’s operations.

Required profile

• Established record of academic leadership in music education or related fields.
• International reputation for scholarship, performance, or composition.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams in a university setting.
• Ability to develop the school’s strategic vision and secure its position among leading global music institutions.
