About the role
EMQ is looking for a senior leader to own the strategic development, commercial management, and optimisation of its global payment network. The role will be based in Hong Kong, Shanghai or Taipei and reports to the Global Head of Networks & Expansion. You will shape the infrastructure that enables real‑time, affordable cross‑border payments across more than 200 markets.
Key responsibilities
- Define and execute the strategic roadmap for EMQ’s global payment network, identifying priority markets, infrastructure gaps and redundancy requirements.
- Build and maintain senior relationships with banks, financial institutions, payment providers and other network partners, leading commercial negotiations on pricing, FX, settlement structures and service levels.
- Develop and optimise banking and settlement infrastructure, including account structures, funding models and partner lifecycle management, while collaborating with Treasury to enhance liquidity and resilience.
- Lead end‑to‑end expansion into new markets and payment corridors, from market assessment and partner selection through negotiation, onboarding, integration and go‑live.
- Own network economics and performance, improving unit economics, margins, pricing competitiveness, service quality and overall resilience.
- Drive cross‑functional initiatives with Product, Treasury, Compliance, Legal, Operations and Technology to translate network opportunities into scalable payment capabilities.
Required profile
- 8+ years of experience in payments, transaction banking, fintech or financial services, with a strong background in strategic partnerships, network development or correspondent banking.
- Deep understanding of cross‑border payment infrastructure, settlement models, correspondent banking and regulated financial ecosystems.
- Demonstrated commercial expertise in cross‑border payment economics, including FX pricing, funding cycles, nostro management and corridor cost structures.
- Advanced negotiation skills for complex partnership terms, pricing and FX spreads, and familiarity with licensing and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail and full professional fluency in English; Mandarin proficiency is strongly preferred.
