Production Editor, Business

About the role

The Business desk of SCMP is looking for a Production Editor to lead the accuracy, quality and visual impact of its online content. You will work closely with reporters, designers and digital teams to ensure fast, error‑free publishing across a range of business topics.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee copy accuracy, fact‑check and mitigate legal risks.
• Edit, rewrite and polish copy for grammar, style and SEO.
• Enhance stories with additional media, visual elements and eye‑catching headlines.
• Distill large volumes of material into compelling stories and meet tight deadlines.
• Manage assignment scheduling to keep a steady flow of pages and avoid bottlenecks.
• Create engaging, reliable and shareable content.
• Collaborate closely with writers, graphic designers and other staff members.

Required profile

• Degree in Journalism, Communication, Language or related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in real‑time online news, wire service or newspaper production.
• Management experience is desirable.
• Excellent news judgment and strong understanding of Hong Kong, the region and international business.
• Meticulous with facts and able to work under tight deadline pressures.
• Top‑notch English writing style with imaginative flair.
• Self‑starter with the ability to anticipate problems and prioritize tasks.
