Senior Java Developer – Global Financial Institution (Hong Kong)

About the role

Our client, a leading global financial institution, is seeking a Senior Java Developer to design, develop, and maintain a next‑generation greenfield risk‑management platform for equity derivatives trading in Hong Kong.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement complex Java applications to support equity derivatives trading, including pricing engines, risk management tools, and trade lifecycle management systems.
• Collaborate with quantitative analysts, trading strategists, and infrastructure engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Optimize application performance and scalability to ensure low latency and high throughput.
• Develop robust testing frameworks and implement continuous integration/deployment practices.
• Mentor and guide junior developers, sharing expertise in Java, distributed systems, and financial domain knowledge.
• Stay up‑to‑date with the latest Java language features, frameworks, and industry best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience developing Java applications.
• Deep understanding of object‑oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience building scalable, fault‑tolerant, high‑performance distributed systems.
• Proficiency in financial modeling, quantitative analysis, and risk management concepts (highly preferred).
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related technical field.
