Senior Designer

About the role

Spin Master is seeking a Senior Designer to lead the development of Collectibles or Wheels Action toys. Reporting to the Director of Design, you will collaborate with North America design teams, Asian engineering, and product development groups to deliver innovative product lines that exceed business and customer expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a bridge between North America design teams and engineering, translating vision into tangible products.
• Provide on‑site design input throughout development, from briefing through model making to production.
• Lead proof‑of‑concept model builds, review CAD files, and ensure feasibility.
• Support medium‑high complexity items with aesthetic and play‑pattern design inputs.
• Create and update design specifications for low‑medium complexity items.
• Prioritize projects based on business impact with limited manager oversight.
• Participate in strategic initiatives, technical workshops, and cross‑functional sharing sessions.
• Coach and review work of junior designers, setting goals to achieve operational results.
• Generate new product ideas to support North America design development.
• Travel to China and other Asian locations as required.

Required profile

• University undergraduate degree in Product, Toy, Industrial Design or equivalent.
• 5+ years of design experience, preferably in the toy industry.
• Proven experience working with remote design teams in North America.
• Experience with Preschool or Wheels Action product categories.
• Strong aesthetic sense and deep understanding of play patterns.
• Ability to interpret design intent and optimize for manufacture (DFA, DFC).
• Knowledge of decoration, manufacturing methods, and costing.
