Senior Java Developer – Equities OMS

About the role

Our client, a global investment bank, is looking for a Senior Java Developer to work on the Equities Order Management System (OMS). You will design, develop and support high‑performance trading and order‑lifecycle functionality, collaborating with traders, quants, analysts and infrastructure teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Equities OMS components in Java, handling order creation, modification, cancellation, state transitions and reconciliation flows.
• Build and consume market‑data and execution interfaces such as FIX and internal APIs, ensuring correct message handling and robust error recovery.
• Implement and optimise latency‑sensitive services using threading, concurrency controls, back‑pressure mechanisms and efficient data structures.
• Create unit, integration and system tests, and improve test‑automation coverage and reliability.
• Diagnose production issues using logs, metrics and tracing, and drive post‑incident reviews.
• Contribute to design documents, technical standards and code reviews, and support release activities including troubleshooting and regression testing.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in Java or C# development.
• Strong understanding of OMS concepts such as order states, idempotency, message sequencing and reconciliation.
• Hands‑on experience with FIX (preferably FIX 4.x) or other trading protocols.
• Solid knowledge of concurrency, performance tuning and JVM behaviour (thread pools, synchronization, GC awareness).
• Proficiency with SQL and relational data modelling.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, integration‑test tooling).
• Familiarity with Linux environments, debugging and operational support practices.
• Background in equities trading, including exchange connectivity and order‑type knowledge.
