Assistant Technical Manager

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Technical Manager to support the university’s facility management team. The role involves coordinating technical maintenance, overseeing project progress, and ensuring building services operate reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with users and the facility management team to capture technical requirements and expectations.
• Monitor and manage work progress, improvement projects, and preventive/corrective maintenance activities.
• Review maintenance standards, supervise contractors, and ensure workmanship meets quality and statutory standards.
• Lead and mentor a technical staff team, assign tasks, provide feedback, and ensure KPI targets are achieved.
• Coordinate with third‑party vendors for facilities services and prepare regular and ad‑hoc reports for the client.
• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and prepare tender and quotation documentation for technical issues.

Required profile

• Degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Membership in professional bodies such as HKIE or CIBSE is highly preferred.
• Minimum five years of experience in facility management or building services maintenance.
• Proven experience supervising technical teams and managing contractors.
• Strong knowledge of relevant statutory requirements, regulations and ordinances.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Chinese.
• Flexibility to work outside regular hours and respond to emergencies.
