Legal Counsel – Water, Waste and Energy Projects

About the role

Veolia Hong Kong Holding Limited, part of the Veolia Group, is looking for a curious, self-driven project lawyer with 3+ years of post-qualification experience to join its Asia legal team. Based in Hong Kong, the role reports directly to the General Counsel - Hong Kong & Macau and involves pioneering projects on waste management, carbon emissions reduction and circularity initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal services for water, waste and energy projects in Hong Kong and Macau
• Review and advise on public and private tender documentation
• Draft, review and negotiate project contracts with commercial teams (EPC, BOT, DBOM, services agreements, O&M contracts)
• Advise on, draft, review and negotiate M&A contracts and conduct due diligence
• Supervise external lawyers in arbitration and litigation and manage disputes
• Manage appointments of external counsel and the legal budget
• Advise on general corporate and commercial matters and supervise implementation of major Group policies
• Monitor regulatory changes and advise management on their impact

Required profile

• 3+ years PQE in reputable international law firms or in-house departments of multinationals, preferably with M&A or transactional construction experience
• Hong Kong or other common law qualification
• Strong academic background and experience in complex contract drafting
• English and Mandarin Chinese, with emphasis on legal drafting; Cantonese fluency is a plus
• Knowledge of project structures and documents, and experience in water, waste or energy projects, are a plus
