Legal Assistant Internship Programme (2027)

About the role

Freshfields offers a legal assistant internship programme for graduates with a law degree from a university in mainland China. The route starts with a four-week summer internship in Hong Kong; subject to satisfactory performance, you are offered a return as a Legal Assistant in the Hong Kong office, helping leading enterprises list in Hong Kong or invest abroad and advising on major cross-border mergers and acquisitions.

The programme continues with postgraduate study in the United Kingdom: the Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) introduces the English Legal System and foundational legal skills, and the City Consortium Solicitor Training Programme (CCP) prepares you for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE). After completing your studies and the SQE assessments, you receive a two-year training contract with the London office, followed by a second year in Hong Kong. The eight-seat training contract covers corporate, dispute resolution and finance, and leads to qualification as an England and Wales solicitor with the option of becoming an Associate in an Asian office.
