Assistant Engineer - Data Centre

About the role

JLL is hiring an Assistant Engineer for an on-site position in Hong Kong, SAR, China. The role covers day-to-day data centre operations, including service desk ticket handling, cabling and patching, equipment stock and monitoring, with overnight and swap-site duty expected.

Key responsibilities

• Review pipeline entry requests to determine how they can be provisioned in the data centre, with recommendations from the data centre manager and client
• Handle ServiceNow incident and change tickets, including hardware upgrades, new hardware installation, server relocation, decommissioning, accessibility configuration, patching, cable laying and vendor escorting
• Manage stock of patch cords, power cords and SFPs, remove unused cabling and label patch cables and devices
• Record patching details and cabinet locations in detail design forms (DDF/DLD) or equivalents, and raise changes for physical implementation
• Monitor environmental readings and CCTV visuals and report errors
• Provide onsite logistics support assigned by the site manager, and perform ad hoc duties assigned by managers

Required profile

• 3-5 years of data centre operational experience
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft server products
• Expert knowledge of PC and server hardware and networking
• Expert understanding of data centre power schemes
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
