Assistant Manager, Tax

About the role

The Taxation Department of John Swire & Sons (H.K.) Limited is seeking an Assistant Manager, Tax to support Hong Kong tax compliance, transfer pricing, and international tax projects. The role is pivotal in ensuring accurate tax provision, filing, and advisory services across the Group.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with operating companies to manage Hong Kong tax provision review, profits tax returns, and computations.
• Prepare and file domestic minimum top‑up tax notifications and returns using e‑filing tools and iXBRL format.
• Handle formal objections, hold‑over applications, and respond to IRD query letters.
• Collaborate with People Department on overseas secondee travel itineraries for Salaries Tax assessment.
• Prepare transfer pricing documentation, including Master File, Local Files and CbCr notifications.
• Conduct desktop research on international tax regulations and obtain Hong Kong tax resident certificates.
• Participate in tax audits, group restructuring, capital gains tax filings for Mainland China and ASEAN subsidiaries.
• Support M&A transactions with tax‑efficient structure advice, due diligence and exposure assessment.
• Provide technical guidance on tax compliance queries and contribute to special projects such as tax health checks and global minimum top‑up tax compliance.

Required profile

• A Bachelor’s degree (field not specified).

Required skills

• Proficiency with iXBRL filing format.
• Experience using e‑filing tools for tax submissions.
• Knowledge of transfer pricing documentation (Master File, Local File, CbCr).
• Ability to conduct desktop research on international tax regulations.
• Familiarity with Hong Kong profits tax compliance and IRD processes.
