Assistant Professor – Ethics or Philosophy of AI

About the role

Lingnan University seeks an Assistant Professor to strengthen its Department of Philosophy in the areas of ethics and philosophy of artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic community dedicated to high‑impact research and teaching excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct internationally‑excellent research in ethics or philosophy of AI.
• Publish articles in top‑ranking philosophy journals.
• Secure competitively awarded research grants.
• Teach undergraduate and taught master’s courses, designing new modules in the area of expertise.
• Supervise graduate students and contribute to departmental service.

Required profile

• PhD in Philosophy (or imminent award) with a strong publication record in leading journals.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain external research funding.
• Experience teaching at undergraduate or master’s level is an advantage.
• Commitment to teaching excellence and curriculum development.

What we offer

• Minimum basic salary of over HKD 934,000 (approximately USD 120,000) per year.
• Annual leave, medical and dental coverage, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and travel allowance for eligible appointees.
• Initial three‑year fixed‑term contract with the possibility of longer‑term appointment and tenure consideration.
