Associate Electrical Engineer (Ph.D.) – Hong Kong

About the role

Exponent is seeking an associate‑level Electrical Engineer with a Ph.D. to join its Electrical Engineering & Computer Science practice in Hong Kong. The role combines scientific and engineering principles with data‑driven techniques to deliver high‑value solutions for complex technical challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical engineering analyses and consulting for electrical/electronic systems across project areas such as failure analysis, risk assessment, reliability, design, and manufacturing.
• Isolate electrical faults at IC and PCB levels using tools such as LIT, OBIRCH, and X‑Rays.
• Conduct electrical schematic and safety design reviews for consumer electronic devices.
• Participate in all project phases: scoping, proposal development, custom test design, test execution, data collection, analysis, report drafting, and client presentations.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline (e.g., Applied Physics).
• Strong technical background in electrical engineering, electronics, controls, embedded systems, or automation.
• Hands‑on experience designing, building, and testing laboratory experiments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently or within multidisciplinary teams.

• OBIRCH fault‑isolation tool.
• X‑Rays inspection for PCB/IC analysis.
• Battery safety management system (preferred).
• Data‑analysis automation (preferred).
