Co-op Internship 2027 - Data and Finance (6 months)

About the role

Manulife is recruiting a Data and Finance co-op intern for its H1 2027 intake (January 2027 to June 2027). The internship gives hands-on experience with financial data, reporting processes, system integrations and process improvement in a leading life insurance organisation. It covers financial reporting, reconciliation, controls, testing and data transformation, with a focus on analytics, stakeholder collaboration and problem-solving.

Key responsibilities

• Support finance data preparation, validation, analysis and reporting to support financial reporting, reconciliation and control processes.
• Review and maintain source data, map files and reporting datasets to improve data quality, consistency and accuracy.
• Investigate data issues, logic gaps, mapping discrepancies and reporting inconsistencies across source systems and reports.
• Support process improvement and automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and strengthen reporting controls.
• Turn complex data and system outputs into clear, actionable insights for finance stakeholders.
• Assist in testing reporting enhancements, system changes and process improvements, including test preparation, result validation, defect tracking and issue resolution.
• Prepare documentation, process flows and presentation materials explaining data logic, methodology, findings and recommendations.
• Collaborate with regional and local Finance teams and cross-functional stakeholders on projects and reporting initiatives.

Required profile

• Current undergraduate student in Business Administration (BBA), Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and effective communication with business stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, organised and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Available for a full-time internship (5 days per week).

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of SQL, Python or business intelligence tools for data modelling with structured data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookup functions, pivot tables and large datasets.
