Co-op Internship 2027 - Global Information Risk Management (6 months)

About the role

Manulife's Co-op Internship Program offers a 6-month placement in Global Information Risk Management, starting in January 2027. As an intern you will carry out control assurance assessments and control testing in line with company policies and standards, support ongoing compliance initiatives and contribute ideas to strengthen control frameworks. The role also covers elements of risk management and regulatory compliance, with work on global assurance projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform information risk assurance assessments and controls testing, for example application security, IT asset inventory and IT disaster recovery.
• Join an engagement team and take part in internal and stakeholder meetings to understand and assess IRM processes.
• Review evidence, analyse data and document workpapers covering test steps, results and findings.
• Support data analysis, such as reviewing control testing data, identifying trends and updating dashboards or reports (Power BI or Excel).
• Work with process owners, Governance and Control teams and Information Risk Officers so that issues found in assurance engagements are tracked against management corrective action plans.

Required profile

• Undergraduate or graduate student majoring in risk management, business administration, information systems, computer science or a related subject.
• Agile, creative and able to take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and oral communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and a result-oriented approach with a sense of ownership.
• Preferred: previous internship in risk management, compliance or data analytics; familiarity with risk management frameworks; understanding of the financial services industry and regulatory environment.

Required skills

• Preferred: basic exposure to data analytics tools such as Excel, Power BI or Python, or automation tools such as Power Automate.
• Attention to detail and ability to adapt quickly to new challenges.

The internship runs from January to June 2027. Applications close on 1 November 2026 and are reviewed on a rolling basis.
