About the role
The Compliance Manager will oversee governance and reporting of compliance matters, including Financial Crime Compliance, for Santander’s operations in Mainland China (Shanghai) and Hong Kong. The role bridges the Hong Kong Compliance team and the WFOE in Shanghai, ensuring regulatory adherence across the region.
Key responsibilities
- Manage general compliance matters for the WFOE, maintaining daily contact with supervisory authorities and ensuring timely dissemination of communications.
- Oversee external submissions and filings to meet regulatory deadlines accurately.
- Conduct and supervise compliance monitoring and control activities.
- Coordinate with bank departments to satisfy authority requests and implement new regulatory requirements.
- Compile, review, and consolidate management reporting for head office and regional committees.
- Manage the Reputational Risk Assessment (RRA) process and New Product Approval Process.
- Provide compliance advice and monitor adherence to internal policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Develop and deliver compliance training, integrating it into the overall training plan for new and existing staff.
- Coordinate issuance of compliance guidelines and distribution of key compliance messages.
- Support regional compliance activities as required.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 10 years of compliance experience in the banking industry, with exposure to both Mainland China and Hong Kong regulatory environments.
- Strong background in compliance monitoring, regulatory advisory, and regulatory change management.
- Deep understanding of banking regulations and ability to assess regulatory impacts on business operations.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership with a proactive, collaborative, results‑oriented approach.
- Fluent verbal and written communication in Mandarin and English.
- Willingness to travel to Mainland China as needed.
