Corporate Counsel – Disputes Focus (Senior Level)

About the role

Shangri-La Group is looking for an experienced in‑house lawyer to join its Group Legal team in Hong Kong. The role combines corporate and commercial work with a strong focus on managing disputes across the hotel and resort portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and report on the Group’s portfolio of disputes and claims, including guest, contractual, employment and regulatory matters.
• Act as the primary point of contact for ongoing litigation and investigations, coordinating external counsel across jurisdictions.
• Maintain a disputes and litigation register, track deadlines, budgets and case status, and prepare regular updates for senior management and the Board.
• Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial contracts such as NDAs, consultancy, branding, service and IT agreements.
• Manage insurance policies, claims and liaise with brokers and insurers.
• Support crisis management, data protection, privacy compliance and ESG‑related regulatory matters.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a reputable law firm or legal department of a listed company in Hong Kong.
• Hong Kong qualified solicitor with solid knowledge of local laws.
• Proven experience handling disputes, claims or litigation, including managing external counsel.
• Strong analytical and commercial sense, able to work independently with limited supervision.
• Fluent in English and Chinese, capable of preparing documents in either language.
