Director of Engineering

About the role

The Kowloon Shangri-La is seeking a seasoned Director of Engineering to lead the engineering function of its 500‑key luxury property. You will be responsible for ensuring all building systems operate safely, efficiently, and to the highest guest‑service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation, maintenance, upgrades, and installation of electrical, HVAC, sanitary, and plumbing systems, ensuring compliance with fire, life, and safety regulations.
• Lead and manage the engineering team, driving efficient operations and exceptional guest satisfaction.
• Provide technical solutions and troubleshooting to optimise system performance and reliability.
• Conduct regular property inspections, proactively identifying and resolving engineering issues.
• Ensure quality and compliance for all in‑house and outsourced repair and maintenance work.
• Manage budgets, special projects, preventive‑maintenance programmes, and energy‑conservation initiatives.
• Lead emergency response for all facility‑related incidents.
• Maintain current licences, permits, and certifications for building and equipment.
• Ensure adherence to engineering audits and standards.

Required profile

• Degree in Building Services, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Chartered Engineer preferred).
• Proven experience as Director or Head of Engineering in large‑scale luxury hotels (500+ rooms) or comparable high‑rise, mixed‑use complexes.
• Strong leadership, communication, organisational, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese.
