Exhibition Designer (Fixed‑Term, 2 years)

About the role

The Hong Kong Palace Museum is seeking a creative Exhibition Designer to lead the design of collection galleries and public spaces. This fixed‑term, two‑year position will guide projects from concept through construction, ensuring high‑quality displays that enhance the visitor experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop spatial planning, exhibition architecture, 3D elements, and interior designs for galleries and public areas.
• Create conceptual sketches, preliminary drawings, renderings, models, and construction documents to support project timelines.
• Collaborate with curatorial, conservation, and installation teams as well as external architects and suppliers.
• Support procurement, manage bids, and engage contractors and designers for project implementation.
• Coordinate supplier and contractor relationships, monitor quality, schedules, and budget compliance.
• Integrate visitor flow, health‑safety, and risk‑assessment considerations into all designs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by HKPM.

Required profile

• Recognised university degree in design, interior design, exhibition management, museum studies or related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in exhibition or retail/commercial design; museum experience is a plus.
• Proven track record across concept, design development, and construction supervision.
• Strong knowledge of materials, fabrication techniques, project management and construction processes.
• Familiarity with proper art handling and installation procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
• Excellent organisational and presentation abilities.
• Fluent English communication; Cantonese or Putonghua is advantageous.
