Exhibition Designer – Multimedia Projects (Fixed‑term)

About the role

The Hong Kong Palace Museum seeks a designer to lead graphic and multimedia projects for its Curatorial and Exhibition Department. The role combines creative visual storytelling with hands‑on production oversight to enhance visitor engagement across exhibitions and related programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and manage graphic and multimedia projects for short‑term and long‑term exhibitions, ensuring cohesive visual narratives aligned with curatorial concepts.
• Provide exhibition graphic support, focusing on strong typography, layout design, and audience‑centred visual communication.
• Coordinate production with third‑party video and graphic providers, overseeing timelines, quality, and budget compliance.
• Develop digital solutions such as motion graphics, immersive experiences, and interactive installations, collaborating with media artists and vendors.
• Supervise hardware installation and on‑site design implementation, working with internal and external technical teams.
• Maintain visitor‑experience standards, including flow optimisation, health‑and‑safety considerations, and risk assessments.

Required profile

• Recognised university degree in graphic design, multimedia design, creative media or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in exhibition or commercial design, preferably within a visual‑arts or cultural institution.
• Proven ability to manage the full design process from concept through construction supervision.
• Strong organisational skills, ability to work under pressure and manage multiple concurrent projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; Cantonese or Putonghua a plus.
