Global Licensing Lawyer – Financial Services & Crypto

About the role

Coins.ph is a leading licensed fiat and crypto wallet provider in Southeast Asia, expanding globally. We are seeking an experienced Lawyer to lead our global licensing and regulatory affairs, securing payments, e‑money, remittance and virtual‑asset service licences across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a licensing roadmap for the EU, Latin America, Africa, South Asia and Hong Kong covering payments, e‑money, remittances and crypto‑related services.
• Prepare, review and submit licence applications, and manage ongoing communications with regulators and government agencies.
• Coordinate with external counsel, consultants and internal compliance, risk and operations teams to embed regulatory requirements into product and operational design.
• Monitor global regulatory developments, assess market entry risks and advise senior management on licensing strategies.
• Represent Coins.ph in regulatory discussions, industry associations and working groups to influence favourable outcomes.

Required profile

• LL.B. (or equivalent) with 5+ years post‑qualification legal experience, including at least 3 years in financial services, fintech, payments or crypto.
• Proven track record of obtaining financial or payment licences in one or more of the target regions (EU, LatAm, Africa, South Asia, Hong Kong).
• Deep knowledge of payment services regulations, AML/CFT, e‑money licensing and virtual‑asset regulatory frameworks.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills with regulators and external counsel.
• Excellent legal drafting and communication skills in English; additional languages such as Chinese are a plus.
