Head of Finance – Private Group

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned finance leader to head the finance function of a Hong Kong‑based private, family‑owned group operating across the Asia‑Pacific region. The role reports directly to the Chairman and supports the business owner on strategic and personal financial matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a finance and accounting team of four, ensuring accurate reporting and efficient daily operations.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management, treasury, and financial planning for the entire group.
• Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, liquidity planning and time‑deposit placements to optimise returns.
• Prepare regular financial and banking summaries for the owner, covering cash positions, investments, financing facilities and key indicators.
• Review management accounts, consolidated financial statements and provide strategic recommendations.
• Review, negotiate and advise on commercial contracts and business agreements from a financial, compliance and risk perspective.
• Ensure compliance with audit, tax, regulatory and reporting requirements, including BVI and offshore structures.
• Liaise with auditors, bankers, legal advisers, tax consultants, shareholders and business partners.
• Strengthen internal controls, corporate governance and financial policies.
• Undertake ad‑hoc projects and assignments as directed by the Chairman.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Qualified CPA, ACCA, HKICPA or equivalent.
• 20‑25 years of finance experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, audit, taxation and corporate governance.
• Experience in a private family‑owned business, family office, entertainment, media or investment‑related industry.
• Exposure to multi‑jurisdiction operations across Hong Kong, Mainland China, Malaysia and offshore (BVI) structures.
• Experience supporting business owners on personal banking, investment and wealth‑management matters.
• Excellent commercial acumen, contract‑review skills and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin preferred).
