High Net Worth Underwriting Lead

About the role

The High Net Worth Underwriting Lead will head the Life Insurance underwriting team, overseeing MI & Governance and transformation projects. This senior position reports to the Underwriting & New Business Operation Lead and is responsible for driving customer‑centric digitalisation and operational efficiency across the underwriting function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Life Insurance underwriting team, including MI & Governance and transformation initiatives.
• Act as the subject‑matter expert for simplified, full and HNW underwriting decisions on all life insurance products.
• Develop and maintain underwriting rules engines to enable straight‑through processing and improve operational efficiency.
• Provide senior management with advice on long‑term mortality and morbidity targets and support new product development.
• Oversee third‑party outsourcing partners, ensuring governance, performance, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitor risks and controls continuously, driving process improvements and ensuring delivery against production quality and financial performance targets.

Required profile

• University degree in Business Administration, Insurance or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of life insurance underwriting experience, with at least 5 years in the High Net Worth market.
• At least 10 years of managerial experience leading underwriting teams.
• Authority to underwrite policies with a sum insured of not less than USD 20 million.
• Fluent in English and Chinese (written and spoken) with strong communication and analytical abilities.
