IT Specialist / Associate IT Specialist – Enterprise Architecture

About the role

The Information Technology Services Office (ITSO) at HKUST is looking for two IT professionals to join its Enterprise Architecture & Technology team. You will support critical server, storage, and cloud operations that enable research, teaching, and administrative services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support servers and storage in a data‑center environment.
• Operate public and private cloud platforms.
• Perform system monitoring, security patching, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Support change management, release coordination, and compliance with control processes.
• Maintain documentation of configurations, procedures, and operational guidelines.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and implement new solutions to improve efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience.
• Strong written and spoken English and Chinese communication skills.
• Analytical, problem‑solving, teamwork orientation and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Windows Server administration.
• Linux system administration (RHEL, Ubuntu).
• Storage systems (Dell, Everpure) and networking (FC, RoCE).
• Virtualization technologies (VMware, Azure Local, Sangfor).
• Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Veeam backup solutions at enterprise scale.
• Public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, AliCloud).
• Scripting for automation and monitoring; AIOps experience is a plus.
