The role supports senior traders across the full trade lifecycle, from pricing and execution through to hedging, logistics and settlement, working closely with counterparties and internal teams. It reports directly to the Managing Director and Head of Trading, UAE, and requires full-time presence in the Hong Kong office, with occasional international travel.
Key responsibilities
- Support senior traders with pricing, order entry and execution of physical gold and silver trades, and book trades accurately in internal systems while keeping trade and position records up to date.
- Help monitor position exposure and prepare detailed, timely and accurate position reports.
- Assist with hedging activity under the direction of senior traders.
- Liaise with accounts, operations and sales to ensure a smooth client experience, maintain client communications and help prepare client meeting briefings, notes and trade summaries.
- Assist in developing digital content such as client presentations and marketing collaterals, ensuring brand accuracy, and help develop daily, weekly and quarterly market reports with data and initial analysis.
- Support senior traders in preparing trading commentary and internal reports, and monitor industry trends and market conditions.
- Shadow senior traders to learn trading strategies, pricing, hedging, risk management and counterparty interactions, and take part in training on hedging, refining, logistics and vaulting.
Required profile
- Fluency in spoken and written English, Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese is essential; other languages are a plus.
- 1-3 years of experience in commodities trading, risk management, operations or logistics, ideally with precious metals; strong graduates with relevant internships are welcome.
- A degree in finance, economics, business or a related field is preferred.
- Genuine interest in physical commodity markets, especially gold and silver, and in how metal moves from mine to vault.
Required skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy with numbers, trade details and documentation.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, able to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, confident dealing with counterparties and internal teams by phone, email and messaging platforms.
