Lead Data Engineer - Asia Group Functions

About the role

Manulife is replacing and building new data capabilities to become a digital customer leader, and is looking for a Lead Data Engineer for its Asia Group Functions team. The role leads a data engineering team, designs and optimizes data pipelines and ETL processes, and works with data architects, analysts and business partners.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and coach data engineers, keeping the team on schedule and delivering high-quality solutions
• Design, develop and manage data pipelines for extraction, transformation and loading from diverse sources
• Design data schemas and collaborate with multi-functional teams on data mapping and integration
• Optimize ETL processes and implement data cleansing, enrichment and transformation
• Design testing plans, data quality checks and validation rules
• Work with data architects on end-to-end data architecture and with technical resources on infrastructure improvements
• Document pipelines, processes and configurations, monitor pipeline performance and ensure compliance with data privacy and compliance standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field; master's degree is a plus
• 10+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, with a track record of implementing and maintaining data pipelines, scheduling, monitoring, notification and ETL processes
• Understanding of Azure infrastructure, including RBAC, Azure AD, VNet, NSG rules, private endpoints and credential/key management
• Experience deploying Azure Data Factory and Databricks with DevOps tools such as GitHub and Jenkins CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 and data mart fact/dimension design, ETL/ELT logic and Lakehouse architecture
