Learning and Engagement Officer – Community Engagement

About the role

The Hong Kong Palace Museum is seeking a Learning and Engagement Officer to support its Community Engagement unit. You will help develop and deliver exhibition projects, learning programmes, and community activities that connect diverse audiences with Chinese art and culture.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing exhibition‑related learning and community engagement programmes.
• Build and maintain partnerships with community groups, coordinating both on‑site and off‑site events.
• Support the Museum’s Volunteer and Docent programmes, ensuring a high‑quality experience for participants.
• Provide administrative and operational support for events and activities as needed.
• Undertake any other duties assigned by the museum management.

Required profile

• A recognised university degree, preferably in cultural management, education, Chinese art, history, museum studies, tourism or a related field.
• Approximately two years of experience in learning, interpretation, or community‑engagement programmes within a cultural or educational organisation.
• Ability to engage a wide range of audiences and act as a bridge between the Museum and the public.
• Strong interest in Chinese art, culture, performing arts, or museum learning.
• Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Chinese.
