Lecturer – Chinese Literature & Linguistics

About the role

Hong Kong Chu Hai College is seeking a dedicated Lecturer to join its Department of Chinese Literature. The successful candidate will contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, fostering academic excellence and supporting the college’s mission to nurture future leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Participate in course, programme, and curriculum review and development.
• Carry out academic and administrative duties as required.
• Undertake additional tasks assigned by the Head of Department or delegate.

Required profile

• PhD in linguistics, applied linguistics, Chinese studies or a related field; preference for candidates with a linguistics background.
• Specialisation in second language acquisition, theoretical linguistics or sociolinguistics.
• Level 1‑B or higher in Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) or certification as a Qualified Provincial Examiner for PSC.
• Ability to teach in English‑assisted format.
• Capability to teach courses such as Second Language Acquisition, Language Policy and Use, Design of Courses and Textbooks/IT in Chinese Language Teaching, Topics in SLA, Teaching Chinese, and Chinese Literature or History‑related subjects.
