Legal Counsel - Investment Bank

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to join a leading investment bank operating across Hong Kong and the Asia‑Pacific region. The role provides comprehensive legal and regulatory advisory to front‑office, operations, and control functions within a fast‑paced investment banking environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide ongoing legal and regulatory advice on securities, capital markets, trading, client onboarding, and internal policies.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, agreements, and internal guidelines.
• Support regulatory inquiries, examinations, investigations, and dispute or litigation matters.
• Coordinate and manage external counsel and professional advisors.
• Prepare internal briefings and escalate material legal or regulatory issues to senior management.
• Assist with regulatory communications and engagement with relevant authorities.
• Participate in ad‑hoc projects, including new business initiatives, regulatory change implementation, and cross‑functional initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with a recognized law degree; Hong Kong or comparable common‑law jurisdiction qualification preferred.
• Approximately 3+ years post‑qualification experience in an investment bank, financial institution, or reputable law firm covering financial services.
• Strong understanding of securities laws, capital markets regulations, and the regulatory framework for investment banking.
• Excellent analytical ability, attention to detail, and capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Comfortable working closely with business stakeholders and senior management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Chinese language capability is highly advantageous.
