Linux Engineer – Associate (Hong Kong)

About the role

As a Linux Engineer you will ensure the stability and performance of Nomura’s Linux‑based infrastructure across all regions. You will operate within a 24/7 service model, handling incident and change management while providing technical guidance to other teams.

Key responsibilities

• Full life‑cycle management of all Linux systems.
• Provide technical excellence and best‑practice guidance.
• Identify and implement improvements to processes, technologies and stability of the Linux estate.
• Perform routine system maintenance and root‑cause investigations.
• Audit and remediate to comply with IT governance policies.
• Coordinate activities using Jira and ServiceNow, creating dashboards and reports.
• Deliver new technology with standardized configuration across regions and collaborate with development groups.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, including weekend work.
• Use Ansible for configuration management and uniform deployment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Linux Engineer.
• Strong communication skills in English and Cantonese.
• Ability to produce clear, reusable technical documentation.

Required skills

• Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and RedHat Satellite.
• Ansible, Python, Perl, Java scripting/automation.
• Container platforms: OpenShift, Rancher.
• F5 load balancers and basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS).
• Server hardware (Dell/HP) and provisioning tools (DHCP, PXE, Kickstart).
• Web servers: Apache, NGINX.
• Monitoring tools: Prometheus, Grafana.
• SAN/NAS storage knowledge and security best practices.
