Platform / Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Millennium is seeking a Platform / Site Reliability Engineer to build and maintain the internal platforms that support its Equity Derivatives business. The role focuses on designing, operating, and scaling containerized workloads across on‑premises and hybrid Kubernetes environments.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain internal platforms for portfolio managers, quants, and technology teams, covering compute, messaging, data, and application infrastructure.
• Design, build, and operate containerized workloads on on‑premises and hybrid Kubernetes estates, handling deployment, reliability, capacity, networking, and storage.
• Partner with development teams to containerize applications, establish deployment standards, and move workloads onto Kubernetes.
• Develop automated tooling for deployments, configuration management, and failover using infrastructure‑as‑code, GitOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Write, test, and maintain high‑quality code with unit testing, documentation, and automation.
• Profile application stacks to eliminate latency bottlenecks and create monitoring and alerting for performance and reliability.
• Apply AI‑enabled approaches for data validation, anomaly detection, and automation support.
• Provide Level 2 production support, troubleshooting, and performance tuning for critical systems.

Required profile

• Strong platform or infrastructure engineering background with Unix/Linux experience and solid troubleshooting skills.
• Hands‑on experience designing, building, and operating production on‑premises Kubernetes clusters, including upgrades, networking, storage, security, and high availability.
• Public‑cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
• Experience with container platforms (Docker/Podman), CI/CD, infrastructure‑as‑code, and observability tooling.
• Programming experience in Python, Groovy, C++, and scripting in Bash or Go.
• Familiarity with messaging middleware such as Kafka or Solace and supporting Equity Derivatives pricing or risk applications.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Financial Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and a proactive, detail‑oriented mindset.
