Professoriate Positions in Arts – Assistant to Full Professor (Tenure-Track)

About the role

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is launching an open‑discipline recruitment drive for 100 outstanding scholars in the Faculty of Arts. Positions are available at the assistant, associate and full professor levels, on a tenure‑track or direct‑tenure basis. The focus is on emerging fields that can deliver scientific and scholarly breakthroughs, with a strong emphasis on Digital Humanities across related humanistic disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead cutting‑edge research programmes in areas such as Art History, English Literary Studies, Global History and Digital History.
• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, mentor students and supervise theses.
• Secure external research funding and build collaborative networks locally, regionally and internationally.
• Contribute to departmental governance, curriculum design and community outreach.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline within the Arts faculty.
• Demonstrated record of high‑quality research publications and a clear vision for future scholarly work.
• Evidence of effective teaching and mentorship experience.
• Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, especially within Digital Humanities.
