Puppy Walker Assistant

About the role

The Puppy Walker Assistant supports the day‑to‑day operations of the Puppy Walker programme, helping volunteer families provide safe, healthy, and well‑behaved homes for our puppies. Reporting to the Puppy Walker Supervisor, the role combines coordination, education, and hands‑on assistance to ensure high‑quality foster care.

Key responsibilities

• Orient new and existing puppy walkers on care standards, health protocols, and behavioural expectations.
• Arrange vaccinations, handle health‑related enquiries, and support walkers with timely information.
• Conduct home visits, care calls, and remote support to guide walkers in real‑time.
• Facilitate group training sessions and coaching to develop walkers’ skills in fostering good home behaviour.
• Monitor care quality, provide feedback, and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Maintain relationships with walkers, motivate them, and promote team cohesion.
• Dispatch food, supplements, and supplies while keeping accurate stock records.
• Coordinate participation in seminars, public‑education events, and fundraising activities.
• Assist in recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new puppy walkers.
• Support trainers in observing and assessing puppy behaviour and temperament.

Required profile

• Passion for animal welfare and experience working with dogs or in a caregiving environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to guide volunteers.
• Ability to organise visits, manage supplies, and keep detailed records.
• Flexibility to provide standby or emergency support as needed.
