Senior Exhibition Designer

About the role

The Hong Kong Palace Museum is seeking a Senior Designer to lead the design and project management of its exhibitions. You will work closely with the Curatorial and Exhibition Department to translate thematic concepts into compelling spatial and graphic experiences for visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concepts, space plans and graphic packages for short‑term and long‑term exhibitions.
• Manage project budgets, oversee installation, and coordinate with external vendors and contractors.
• Guide junior designers, collaborate with artists, institutions and suppliers, and ensure compliance with museum standards, schedules and contractual obligations.
• Oversee the exhibition fabrication process and procurement of design‑related goods and services from sourcing to invoicing.
• Apply multimedia elements where appropriate to enhance visitor experience.

Required profile

• Recognised university degree in interior design, 3D design, museum exhibition design, graphic design or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience managing large‑scale exhibitions, preferably in a museum or gallery environment.
• Strong leadership and project‑management skills, able to meet tight deadlines and supervise staff.
• Familiarity with government procurement, tender procedures and local building regulations.
• Fluent in English and Chinese, both written and spoken.
