Senior Low Latency Electronic Trading Network Design Engineer

About the role

Join Morgan Stanley's Global Trading Network Engineering team in Hong Kong as a Senior Network Engineer. You will design and deliver high‑performance, low‑latency network solutions for APAC trading venues while supporting initiatives across AMER and EMEA.

Key responsibilities

• Design, document and implement low‑latency client and exchange connectivity across multiple data‑centres and co‑location sites.
• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of global network projects, from requirements gathering through hand‑over to deployment teams.
• Provide Level 4 engineering support for major incidents in a follow‑the‑sun model.
• Collaborate with external vendors and internal engineering groups to evolve Morgan Stanley’s trading network.

Required profile

• 7+ years of network engineering experience in financial services.
• CCNP certification minimum; CCIE or CCDE preferred.
• Proven track‑record delivering business‑aligned low‑latency network designs.
• Ability to act as a technical lead in a global organisation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of IP networking, TCP/IP, WAN/LAN and data‑centre architectures.
• Advanced routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, spanning‑tree).
• Multicast protocols (IGMP, PIM) and bi‑directional NAT.
• Experience with Arista and Cisco low‑latency switches.
• Tap aggregation, time‑stamping, lossless monitoring, and market‑data distribution networks.
• A10 & F5 load‑balancers, Corvil analytics, dark‑fibre and optical transport.
• Microwave technologies and precision timing (NTP, PTP, PPS, Meinberg, Spectracom, GNSS, White Rabbit).
• Network automation using Python, shell scripting, Ansible and Forward Networks.
• Version control with Git.
