Senior Manager, Design

About the role

The Shangri‑La Group is seeking a Senior Manager, Design to lead design initiatives for hotel development projects worldwide. You will ensure that every design complies with the Group’s standards while delivering innovative, guest‑centric environments.

Key responsibilities

• Drive innovative design concepts that meet company standards, guest comfort, safety and service expectations.
• Coordinate with functional heads, suppliers, contractors, consultants and hotel operators to deliver practical, effective and durable designs within budget.
• Monitor project schedules, track progress of all design‑related activities and document any rectifications or improvements.
• Stay current with hospitality and tourism trends, applying new ideas to design programmes.
• Collaborate with Procurement to review budgets, research materials, evaluate tenders and interview potential bidders.
• Prepare cost projections for permits and construction impact fees and verify payment schedules.
• Review drawings and tender documents, liaise with division heads to resolve delays or challenges.
• Create and maintain a reference library of designs, products, specifications and update company standards regularly.
• Conduct site visits to verify compliance with approved designs and quality standards, documenting any deviations.
• Monitor performance of interior design consultants and mentor Design Managers as needed.

Required profile

• Degree in Architecture or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a senior managerial capacity.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects from conceptual design through completion.
• Background in luxury hotels or large‑scale mixed‑use development projects.
