Technician – Core Facility Support

About the role

The Gerald Choa Neuroscience Institute is expanding and seeks a Technician to provide technical and facility support for its core laboratories on the CUHK campus. You will work closely with researchers, campus services and the IT team to ensure smooth operation of experimental workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Assist researchers with experimental setup, troubleshooting and data collection (imaging and electrophysiology).
• Coordinate inspections, safety compliance and animal housing with campus management and the animal service.
• Manage facility bookings, payments and liaise with other departments.
• Maintain laboratory organization, equipment upkeep and IT infrastructure.
• Update the institute’s website and applications, and provide IT support for events.
• Perform ad‑hoc tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in IT support, facility or equipment management.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to learn new equipment and software quickly and work independently under deadlines.
