About the role

The Department of Physics at CUHK is seeking tenure‑track or tenured faculty members at all ranks for the 2026‑27 academic year. Candidates with expertise in any of the listed physics and materials‑science areas are encouraged to apply. Initial appointments are on a three‑year contract, with the possibility of renewal or progression to a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

Develop and lead an independent research programme, aiming to secure external funding.
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the relevant discipline.
Supervise graduate students and contribute to departmental service.

Required profile

PhD in physics, materials science or a closely related field.
Post‑doctoral research experience with a demonstrable record of scholarly achievements.
Potential to establish a significant externally funded research programme.
Strong commitment to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
