Vice President – China Investment Banking Coverage

About the role

HSBC is seeking a high‑calibre professional to join its Capital Markets and Advisory team as Vice President, focusing on China investment banking coverage. You will act as the primary client contact, driving transactions from origination through execution while mentoring junior bankers.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the day‑to‑day client liaison and lead banker on live transactions.
• Oversee, review, and coordinate junior bankers to maintain momentum and ensure timely execution.
• Coach and train junior team members, fostering skill development and consistent delivery quality.
• Enhance marketing and execution materials to maximise client impact and clear messaging.
• Identify, assess, and manage transaction‑related risks, escalating and mitigating as needed.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external parties such as legal counsel and accountants to align deliverables and timelines.
• Lead client discussions, conduct management interviews, and manage Q&A processes to support diligence and decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant investment banking experience.
• Proven track record of leading end‑to‑end transaction execution.
• Strong confidence engaging with senior business clients and building credibility quickly.
• Self‑directed, highly motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
