Vice President / Director – Financial Sponsors

About the role

Mizuho Bank is seeking a senior leader to originate and support financial sponsor transactions across the APAC region (excluding Japan). The Vice President/Director will work closely with corporate, product and capital‑markets teams to deliver M&A advisory, acquisition finance and other structured solutions for sponsor clients and their portfolio companies.

Key responsibilities

• Originate and support financial sponsor business across APAC, including M&A advisory, corporate finance, acquisition finance (recourse and non‑recourse), fund finance, project finance and real‑estate finance.
• Coordinate ECM, DCM and other capital‑market products through Mizuho Securities entities.
• Provide ancillary services such as FX, derivatives, trade financing and transaction banking for event‑driven deals.
• Maintain strategic dialogue with sponsor clients and portfolio companies, preparing presentations and pitch‑books.
• Collaborate with sector, product and country bankers across APAC, the Americas and EMEA to design and pitch appropriate solutions.
• Lead deal execution when required, managing client representatives, external legal counsel and internal stakeholders.
• Support the development of distribution capabilities in the private/credit space.
• Mentor junior team members and strengthen the deal‑origination function.

Required profile

• Proven experience covering financial sponsor clients and their portfolio companies.
• Ability to lead transaction teams and coordinate multiple parties.
• Strong understanding of corporate finance, structured products and capital‑markets.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for client engagement.
• Willingness to work across APAC and collaborate with global teams.
