Associate – APAC External Communications

About the role

Ares is looking for a motivated communications professional to join its Corporate Communications & Marketing team in Hong Kong. The Associate will support external communications across the APAC region, helping to promote and protect the Ares brand while working closely with senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Manage inbound media requests and coordinate timely responses with internal stakeholders.
• Develop storylines, pitch to relevant media, and arrange interviews and background meetings aligned with leadership priorities.
• Identify and secure external speaking engagements and high‑profile media opportunities.
• Build and maintain a network of media contacts across key APAC publications and keep a journalist database up to date.
• Draft press releases, talking points, Q&As, communication plans and briefing documents, overseeing internal and external review processes.
• Prioritise multiple tasks to meet critical deadlines and support media engagement tracking, competitor analysis, press release distribution, and award submissions.
• Provide strategic counsel to Ares leadership and support portfolio companies on communications matters as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum of 3 years of corporate communications experience, either in‑house or at a strategic communications firm.
• Understanding of the asset management or broader financial services industry.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to edit and proof content in both English and Chinese.
• Experience tracking and measuring communication results against objectives.
