Associate Director - AML/CTF Institutional

About the role

As an Associate Director AML/CTF Institutional at ANZ, you will support the management and uplift of financial crime and fraud risk across the Institutional Division. Working within the Financial Crime and Fraud Centre of Excellence, you will provide trusted risk advice, ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and partner with business teams to embed effective controls.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver financial crime and fraud risk‑management activities across divisional processes, products and value chains.
• Translate regulatory requirements into practical business outcomes and communicate their value to stakeholders.
• Interpret and apply Group Risk policies, standards and regulatory obligations within the division.
• Support impact assessments and implementation activities arising from regulatory, policy or risk‑standard changes.
• Partner with business teams to design, uplift and embed AML/CTF controls aligned to enterprise frameworks.
• Identify control gaps, emerging risks and develop remediation actions.
• Provide risk insights, analysis and advice on risk appetite across customers, channels and products.
• Monitor control effectiveness and escalate concerns where risks remain outside appetite.

Required profile

• Strong AML/CTF regulatory knowledge and solid understanding of end‑to‑end financial crime processes, including customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, investigations and reporting.
• Experience in conducting risk assessments and supporting remediation initiatives.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive change in a complex banking environment.
• Senior‑level experience in banking compliance or financial crime risk management.

Required skills

• Knowledge of AML, CTF, sanctions, anti‑bribery and corruption frameworks.
• Ability to analyse risk appetite and provide actionable risk insights.
• Experience with regulatory change implementation and control monitoring.
