Audio Segmentation and Transcription - Cantonese (Part-time)

About the role

Kaya, a community of data annotators run by Chemin, is looking for fluent Cantonese speakers and writers with a healthcare background or familiarity with medical terminology to join a short-term remote project training AI language systems. The recordings are Cantonese-English (code-switching), so fluency in both languages is required. The project runs from 20 July to 20 September 2026, with at least 4 hours per day including weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Listen to Cantonese-English audio clips and transcribe them accurately
• Segment audio into natural speech units
• Identify and label speakers when multiple voices are present
• Add simple annotations such as gender, age group and emotion
• Review and validate transcription quality through QC tasks if assigned
• Follow project guidelines and communicate with the Project Manager

Required profile

• Fluent spoken Cantonese and writing in Traditional Chinese
• Fluent English for project communication
• Familiarity with medical terminology used in hospitals or clinics
• Detail-oriented, able to maintain at least 95% accuracy
• Own time management and ability to meet deadlines
• Access to a laptop or desktop, headset and stable internet

Required skills

• Cantonese Jyutping keyboard
• Strong listening and comprehension, including different accents and background noise
• Previous experience in transcription, audio annotation, data labelling, linguistics, healthcare language work or AI projects is a bonus
