Core DevOps Engineer – Platform & Infrastructure

About the role

Our client, a global quantitative hedge fund, is looking for a Core DevOps Engineer to design, build and operate the platforms that enable traders and developers to work at scale. The role spans cloud (AWS) and on‑premises environments and focuses on improving reliability, automation and developer productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement tooling and infrastructure that increase platform reliability and developer efficiency.
• Build, automate and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Manage environment deployments, upgrades and migrations across hybrid AWS/on‑premises stacks.
• Partner with engineering teams to ensure production systems meet performance and availability targets.
• Create APIs, self‑service tools and automation to reduce operational overhead.
• Enhance monitoring, observability, alerting and operational readiness.
• Integrate internal platforms and services through code and scripts.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating infrastructure in hybrid (AWS and on‑premises) environments, preferably in buy‑side or performance‑critical firms.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with a focus on automation and reliability.
• Engineer‑first attitude, ownership of production systems and ability to collaborate across teams.

Required skills

• AWS services – EC2, VPC networking, load balancing.
• Kubernetes (EKS preferred).
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code – Terraform or OpenTofu.
• Python programming.
• Linux and Windows scripting.
• Git and modern software development workflows.
• CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance.
• Monitoring and observability tools – Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Splunk, Coralogix.
• Exposure to C/C++, Make or CMake build systems.
