About the role
As a Crisis Helpline Responder you will provide immediate, compassionate support to individuals in urgent distress, helping them navigate suicidal thoughts, self‑harm, and other mental health crises. This flexible, remote part‑time position allows you to work from anywhere while contributing to a vital lifeline service.
Key responsibilities
- Respond to crisis hotline calls, offering evidence‑based counseling, de‑escalation, and emotional support.
- Assess caller needs, arrange emergency services or referrals to appropriate resources, and maintain detailed call records.
- Adhere to data protection regulations to ensure caller confidentiality.
- Make quick, informed decisions during calls, prioritising safety and supporting smooth handovers to the next shift.
Required profile
- 1‑3 years of experience on helplines (paid or volunteer), preferably in mental health or crisis settings.
- Fluent communication skills in your native language; additional languages are a plus.
- Experience managing high‑risk situations, including suicide risk.
- Resilience and emotional composure under pressure.
