DC System Engineer – Data Center Operations

About the role

The Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team at AWS is responsible for the physical infrastructure of global data centers. As a DC System Engineer you will work with a diverse group of software, hardware, network, and supply‑chain experts to ensure safety, security, availability and cost‑efficiency of critical facilities. The position is based in Hong Kong and involves 24x7 on‑site operations and project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary interface with colocation providers and contractors to address daily operational requirements and ensure compliance with safety protocols and local legislation.
• Monitor and respond to routine maintenance and emergency incidents for critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, chillers, cooling towers, CRAH units and building monitoring systems.
• Generate change‑management requests and incident tickets, and participate in on‑call rotations for power failures, natural disasters and other emergencies.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of infrastructure issues, oversee rack installations, and perform power and cooling assessments.
• Lead small‑to‑medium projects from conception to completion, coordinating with engineering, automation, finance and external vendors.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of electrical or mechanical experience in a data‑center or industrial environment.
• Knowledge of mechanical room infrastructure such as chillers, cooler units and fan controls.
• Understanding of key electrical concepts and theory.

Required skills

• Electrical systems and power distribution equipment.
• Mechanical HVAC systems, chillers and cooling equipment.
• Building Management System (BMS) and Energy Performance Monitoring System (EPMS) tools.
• Change‑management, ticketing and asset‑management software.
