DevOps Engineer

About the role

Itarle, an independent algorithmic trading firm, is looking for a DevOps Engineer to help modernise its hand‑built infrastructure. You will work closely with network security and development engineers to design and operate an Ansible‑driven automation layer that supports trading systems across Hong Kong and London.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Ansible roles and playbooks for the Linux estate, including inventory model, variable hierarchy and role structure.
• Implement safe production automation practices such as check‑mode runs, staged rollouts, change windows, secrets handling and drift detection.
• Automate collection of compliance evidence for patch state, baseline conformance and access configuration.
• Support and operate a containerised application platform (LXC/Podman) in a distributed environment.
• Enhance software delivery by creating automated CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows across multiple environments.
• Implement modern release strategies to ensure stable, controlled rollouts and rapid recovery.
• Maintain system observability – monitoring, logging and alerting – to ensure platform health.
• Ensure platform security through hardening, patching and vulnerability management.
• Collaborate with development teams for application onboarding, deployment and incident response.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1‑3 years of experience in platform engineering or DevOps.
• Strong hands‑on experience with enterprise Linux environments, especially Oracle Linux and Ubuntu.
• Practical experience writing and executing Ansible playbooks and roles in production.
• Solid experience with containerisation in production (LXC, Podman).
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and modern software delivery tools.
• Good understanding of networking concepts and distributed systems architecture.
• Experience with monitoring, logging and system observability practices.
